There’s a familiar face in the lineup at Wymara Resort & Villas Turks + Caicos this fall: Jorge Collazo, the resort’s freshly minted director of sales and marketing, has returned to the team at a moment of dynamic change and high expectations.

Collazo’s previous stint at the resort ran from 2012 to 2014, and he spent much of the past five years filling various executive roles in Miami’s bustling resort industry. His most recent stop was with the team that opened the new Silversands resort in Grenada. And while Collazo brings valuable new experiences to this return engagement, more has changed at Wymara T+C than just the name.

With its brand reboot complete, Wymara is moving ahead with multiple improvements, headlined by the soon-to-be-completed first phase of its ocean front villas project in Turtle Tail. Collazo is expected to be a key player in each of these initiatives: Beyond the resort’s sales and marketing operations, he’s also in charge of Wymara’s reservations and revenue management teams, with a major role in the 2020 launch of the ocean front villas’ Phase II. Once complete, the five additional four-and-five bedroom villas will bring the resort’s total count to 12.

“Jorge brings more than a decade of experience to us at Wymara, not least of which includes previous time working in the Turks and Caicos,” said General Manager Rolf Lippuner. “Jorge’s strengths are not simply found is his ability to sell and market, but his experience has also seen a number of years in hotel operations with Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts as a Night Manager, Director of Housekeeping and Director of Revenue. All told, he is incredibly experienced and well-rounded and will help take us to the next level.”

The news out of Wymara recently has all been about next-level ambitions. Beyond expanding its villa offerings, the destination is upgrading its food and beverage program, renovating its 91 rooms and suites, and putting its employees through a comprehensive service training program.

“I am thrilled to return to Turks and Caicos,” Collazo said. “The transformation that is underway at Wymara Resort and Villas will have the travel industry abuzz. Wymara is well on its way to becoming, if not already being, the top choice for the discerning modern traveler,”
