The first Saturday in February is usually marked by a beloved culinary soiree for a cause on the island of Providenciales. Over the past decade, an array of island chefs has wowed local and visiting foodies with their chocolate inspired creations at the annual Chocolate Lovers Showcase.

At the sparkling event, guests enjoy delectable bites presented by island restaurants and resorts vying for votes and the titles of best sweet and savory dishes of the night. The event is an important fundraiser for the Salvation Army TCI, benefiting its program, which provides hot lunches to at-risk school students.

This year’s event was cancelled, but the work of the Salvation Army TCI continues.

The Salvation Army TCI provides a multitude of on-going programs that support individuals throughout the Turks and Caicos community, as well as providing disaster and recovery relief.

In April 2020, the Salvation Army TCI, together with its local partner NGOs, initiated a weekly food relief drive. It was a significant undertaking, involving dozens of volunteers, multiple islands and hundreds of thousands of pounds of food. Over the course of the year, thousands of bags of fresh food and staple items weighing upwards of 35lbs each were packed by volunteers and delivered to families in need.

The Salvation Army TCI also celebrated an important milestone in 2020, breaking ground on its community center on Providenciales.

And be sure to mark your calendars for the 11th Chocolate Lovers Showcase: February 5, 2022.
