When Amanyara resort on Providenciales opened in 2006, seasoned travelers and critics alike considered it faultless. But as the past decade has proven, perfection is an ever-evolving state.

The innovative luxury resort celebrated its 10-year anniversary in May with a three-day event of intimate cocktail klatches, beachfront dinners and a surprise finale concert by U.K. songwriter and rapper Taio Cruz. Guests ranged from villa owners and resort regulars to travel industry leaders and visiting dignitaries.

Developers originally constructed the resort as an elegant mixture of one-room pavilions and three- to six-bedroom villas. Over the years, the array of choices expanded as management catered to smaller families, offering new two-bedroom suites, each boasting a living room, a dining room and a private pool.

More recently, Amanyara has invested in fitness and recreation, adding a beach volleyball court and a soccer pitch. The new clubhouse is home to indoor games, and an 18-hole golf simulator. There are more tennis courts, and the spa now includes an Erika Bloom Pilates studio.

The Nature Discovery Centre makes the island’s stunning natural environment accessible to all ages and abilities. Exclusive excursions allow guests to assist scientists conducting ongoing turtle-tagging research.

Amanyara’s community involvement expanded as well, spearheading a state-of-the-art library at the Osetta Jolly Primary School in Blue Hills and a culinary education studio at Turks & Caicos Community College.

What’s in store for its second decade? More changes, starting with plans for new beachfront villas.
Perfection, it seems, is a constantly advancing target.
